Vaccination Roll-Out for 12-15 Year Old’s Moves to Pa Enua

12 October 2021 (CKT)

With the majority (665 out of 772) of 12–15-year-olds on Rarotonga having now received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination, the roll-out will now move to the Pa Enua.

The Te Marae Ora team recently held an information session for students and their parents/caregivers and the vaccine roll-out will commence in Aitutaki this Friday (15 October), concluding on Saturday (16 October).

There are approximately 165 youth in the 12-15 years age group resident on Aitutaki.

The vaccination team is also expecting at least 10 adults who either missed their second dose in the previous roll-out or have decided to be vaccinated.

After Aitutaki the Te Marae Ora vaccination roll-out (first dose) will move to Atiu (18-19 October); Mitiaro (23-24 October); Mauke (28-29 October) and Mangaia (1-2 November).

“While the 86% of 12–15-year-olds did not match the adult vaccination rate, we are hoping the Pa Enua youth vaccination rate matches the close to 100% turn out for adults. I want to thank those 12–15-year-olds on Rarotonga who did get their first vaccination. You are now only one dose away from providing invaluable protection against this virus for yourself, your family, your friends and the community, meitaki maata” said Secretary of Health, Bob Williams.
